The 1963 Iso Rivolta 340 (sold with GT and IR prefixes) is the classic “cumenda” coupe of the 1960s: a refined, comfortable and not too flashy sports car, capable of remarkable performance.

The Iso Rivolta 340 GT or IR – unveiled at the 1962 Turin Motor Show – was the most formidable version of the 300, the first sports car produced by the Lombardy brand. Designed by Giotto Bizzarrini and built by Bertone coachbuilders (more precisely by Giorgetto Giugiaro), it presented an elegant style and behaved impeccably on the road, thanks to an equal weight distribution between the front and rear axles.

Quiet and stable even at high speeds, it has a spacious interior for four passengers (easy, considering it is 4.76 meters long), but its finish could be improved. Reliability is high and low: the engine is excellent, the gearbox not exceptional.

The front-mounted engine of the Iso Rivolta 340 (GT/IR) is a robust 5.4-liter Chevrolet V8 (derived from the Corvette C1) that develops 340 hp. It gives the rear-wheel drive Lombard coupe a top speed of 228 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.

This example, sold new in the USA acquired in 2017, has been completely restored by its previous owner and is in perfect condition, both interior, engine or exterior.
