It cost more than a new Porsche 911, won a “Style Auto” award from a panel of international automotive stylists, and influenced automotive design for an entire decade. This is the Fiat 130 Coupe, a graceful grand touring car in every sense of the word.<\/p>\n

The design is the work of Paolo Martin at Pininfarina and is as far from the Fiat 130 sedan of the time as the Moon is from the Earth.<\/p>\n

While the 130 Sedan – Fiat’s attempt to conquer the luxury sedan market – looked like a Fiat 125 Sedan pulled and stretched in all directions, the Coupe’s exact and elegant proportions were highlighted by clean lines and perfect planes accentuated by a body line that ran the length of the car to the front edge of the hood.<\/p>\n

The treatment of the headlights and taillights mirrored the rest of the 130’s angularity, perfect shapes that gave the Coupe an imposing presence on the road.<\/p>\n

Under this beautiful hood was a 3.2-liter V6 developing 123 kW and 250 Nm. A three-speed Borg-Warner automatic transmission sent power to the rear wheels. A five-speed ZF manual transmission was available as an option. The advertised top speed was 193 km\/h, while the three-digit passage was completed in 10 seconds.<\/p>\n

Inside, the 130 Coupe’s prestige aspirations were evident, with velvet upholstery and generous seating for five. The instrumentation and steering wheel – adjustable – added a sporty touch while features such as power windows – a rarity at the time – underlined its luxury aspirations.<\/p>\n

Only 4491 coup\u00e9s were produced between 1971 and 1977. They weren’t cheap either, costing the price of a new Porsche 911 T in the same year.<\/p>\n

The influence of the 130 Coup\u00e9 cannot be underestimated, its beautiful proportions and angular yet elegant design marked a renaissance for the Pininfarina styling house which, until the revelation of the Coup\u00e9, had been in a design slump.<\/p>\n

But after the 130 Coup\u00e9, the styling house had a great period, with the Ferrari 365 GT4, the Rolls-Royce Camargue and the Peugeot 604, all of which came out of the Pininfarina workshop, whose respective lines were unmistakably and unashamedly borrowed from the 130 Coup\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Pininfarina, encouraged by the positive response to the 130 Coup\u00e9, designed a few more prototypes using the Coup\u00e9’s design as a basis. But if the links of relationship are undeniable, the four-door “Opera” and the shooting brake “Maremma” will never see the production line.<\/p>\n

Despite its 50 years, the Fiat 130 Coupe remains a majestic and elegant car, desirable not only for its rarity, but also for the absolute purity of its design.<\/p>\n

This model is equipped with the rare ZF 5-speed manual transmission, a model produced in just over 500 units! The 130 is extremely well preserved, the interior is perfect, the mechanics too. The bodywork has been repainted, the level is acceptable. There is no trace of corrosion, neither on the chassis, nor on the body.<\/p>\n

The car has a limited history and has had only one owner throughout its life. We believe that the mileage displayed is correct. It was brought back from Alba (IT) by road, it drives terribly well!<\/p>\n
