The TVR Taimar is an icon of the British manufacturer TVR, produced between 1976 and 1979. This daring sports coupe perfectly embodies the spirit of the brand: thrilling performance, attractive design and an exclusive character. A refined evolution of the TVR 3000M, it brings a major improvement that immediately sets it apart: an opening rear hatch, making access to the boot much more convenient, a unique feature for TVR at the time.

Built around an ultra-light tubular chassis and clad in a fibreglass body, the Taimar is a real thrill machine. Under the bonnet roars a 3.0-litre Ford Essex V6 engine, delivering 140 horsepower at 5000 rpm and a generous torque of 234 Nm at 3000 rpm. Combined with a four-speed manual gearbox (with a five-speed option for increased comfort), this engine block ensures lively acceleration and an exhilarating driving experience.

Its performance is remarkable for its time: a top speed flirting with 200 km/h and 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds. Thanks to its low weight of around 1000 kg, balanced weight distribution and independent suspension on all four wheels, the Taimar offers precise and dynamic handling, making it a pure pleasure to drive on winding roads. Its agility and communicative steering provide authentic sensations, worthy of the best British sports cars.

The interior of the Taimar is appealing thanks to its handcrafted and sporty character. The dashboard adds a touch of refinement, while the comprehensive instrumentation and bucket seats ensure total immersion in the world of driving. While the ergonomics remain typical of the handcrafted productions of the time, every detail exudes authenticity and passion for the automobile. The addition of the tailgate not only improves practicality: it makes the Taimar a sports car that can be used on a daily basis, combining elegance and functionality.

With only 395 examples produced, the Taimar is a rarity on the collectors’ market. Its distinctive design, combining aggressive curves and timeless elegance, makes it an object of desire for lovers of cars with character. An even more exclusive Turbo version has also been released, offering increased power and impressive performance.
The TVR Taimar is much more than just a car: it is the symbol of an era when passion and craftsmanship combined to create unforgettable automobiles. It embodies the spirit of TVR in all its splendour, proving that performance and driving pleasure can go hand in hand with exclusivity and British charm. Even today, it remains a benchmark among classic sports cars, a model sought after by those who want a machine as rare as it is sensational.

This example, in original red, very well documented, is a rare left-hand drive version with sunroof delivered new in Germany in 1977. It remained there for almost all of its life. The car has been completely restored, including the chassis which has been galvanised, and the Ford Essex V6 engine prepared by Hurricane Racing with injection and displacement increased to 3.2L for 180 hp. It is equipped with a 5-speed gearbox, Wolfraces rims, chrome bumpers, a new radiator and a new stainless steel exhaust. This car has been the subject of many publications in magazines and video reports.

Truly a beautiful and rare high-performance TVR, ready to drive!
