The Citroën DS 20 Pallas is part of the history of the legendary DS family, one of the most innovative and emblematic cars of the XXᵉ century. The Citroën DS was first presented to the public at the Paris Motor Show in October 1955, and immediately shook up automotive codes thanks to its aerodynamic design by Flaminio Bertoni and major technical advances such as hydropneumatic suspension, power steering, semi-automatic gearbox and front disc brakes, innovations that put it far ahead of its competitors at the time.

The Pallas finish was introduced in 1964 at the same Paris Motor Show as a top-of-the-range version of the DS, named after the Greek goddess Pallas Athena. This version was distinguished by a level of comfort and finish never before seen on a mass-produced French car, with improved soundproofing, plusher upholstery (available in leather), specific exterior trim, special hubcaps and a more refined presentation in general.

During the 1960s, the DS evolved both technically and aesthetically. After several engine and mechanical upgrades, it was at the end of the decade that the DS20 replaced the DS19. This model used a more powerful 2.0-liter engine (around 91 hp DIN for the original versions) and combined perfectly with the luxurious equipment of the Pallas finish.

The DS 20 Pallas thus became the prestige version of the top-of-the-range DS produced between 1969 and 1975, offering car enthusiasts a unique combination of “grand touring” comfort, exceptional ride thanks to hydropneumatic suspension, and an elegance typical of French automotive refinement at the time. It retained distinctive features such as directional headlamps that followed the trajectory of the steering wheel on some versions, contributing to its technological aura and safety.

DS production ended in 1975, after a worldwide success that saw almost 1.5 million units built in all versions. Today, the DS 20 Pallas remains sought after by collectors for its historical significance, its refined equipment and its role as an icon of post-war automotive luxury and technology.

This 1974 example was completely restored between 2014 and 2016 by the previous owner. A photo and invoice file demonstrates the level of restoration: everything has been revised: mechanics, hydraulics, bodywork, interior.
