The Dino 208 GT4 holds a particularly interesting place in Ferrari’s history. Introduced in 1975, it was a direct offshoot of the Dino 308 GT4 unveiled two years earlier and was its two-liter version, developed primarily for the Italian market to take advantage of more favorable tax rates for engines under 2,000 cm³.

The 208 GT4 features Bertone’s highly distinctive design, the work of Marcello Gandini. Its angular silhouette conceals a layout that was particularly original for its time: a rear-mid V8 engine and a 2+2 seating configuration. Its 1,991 cm³ V8, powered by four Weber carburetors, produces approximately 170 ch and is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. With only about 840 units produced between 1975 and 1980, the 208 GT4 is now significantly rarer than its sibling, the 308 GT4.

The car shown here is a 1975 model, chassis no. 11390. Its Italian documentation confirms that it has a 1,990 cm³ engine and records its former license plate number, TA 407371.

Its records also provide insight into part of its history in Italy. Notably, the car belonged to Mario D’Ayala Valva in Taranto. Several Italian technical inspections mark its history, from 1987 through 2015. In March 2015, it was transferred to Grimaldi Auto in Vigevano, before being sold and exported to Belgium in May of that same year.

It also comes with its ASI certificate—from the Automotoclub Storico Italiano—which identifies the Dino 208 GT4, chassis 11390, built in 1975 and registered in the Italian historic registry. Its ASI license plate No. 35405 is also documented.

Today, the odometer reads just 30,896 km. Although its past maintenance history is relatively poorly documented and does not allow for formal verification of this mileage from new, the car is in excellent overall condition.

Most importantly, it underwent a complete overhaul in 2026, which included, among other things, the replacement of the timing belts—essential maintenance for this Ferrari V8. It is now ready to hit the road and be fully appreciated by its next owner.

Rare, elegant, and still relatively unknown, this Dino 208 GT4 has some serious selling points: the Bertone design by Marcello Gandini, the carbureted V8, the manual transmission, only 840 units produced, 30,896 km on the odometer, ASI certification, and, above all, a major service just completed. A Ferrari in every sense of the word in terms of its design and character—still bearing the Dino badge—and a particularly appealing option for anyone seeking a 1970s Italian GT that’s as unique as it is rare.
