The Ford Thunderbird, commonly called “T-Bird”, is a car produced by the American manufacturer FORD. It was originally a two-seater “sport” model designed in 1955 to compete with the Chevrolet Corvette released in 1953, but the Thunderbird would eventually become a luxury car in the Cadillac Eldorado segment.
From 1955 to 1957, it was a two-seater convertible model, equipped with a 292 ci / 4785 cm3 engine of 200hp. 16,000 copies were sold in the first year, making it a commercial success, and total production during its three-year run was 53,166 copies.
The name “Thunderbird” refers to Indian mythology: it is the thunderbird that is supposed to bring rain and fertility.
The model presented here was purchased in 2019 in the USA and was partially restored afterwards (chassis, box, hood and interior). It is equipped with a 3 speed manual gearbox and has a hardtop in addition to its vinyl top.
